Morvarid K / This too shall pass

€190.00

To see the static, silent, empty landscapes, to notice the oppressive absence of life and confront what remains after the passage of the mega forest fires.

It is not the material loss, rather the intimate apprehension of the emotional charge. The complexity of human perception is questioned here, through an adjustment mechanism that enables us to tame the brutal, the destructive. The way we set up a process to make Thanatos bearable. And our power to seek out beauty in absolute darkness.

The “This Too Shall Pass” project begins in Australia in 2020 and continues in France between 2021 and 2023. It is divided into three phases. The first: denial and dismay in the face of immense darkness. Then the body-to-body contact, the awareness and the confrontation with this new reality. And finally, the oblivion and abstraction. Life resumes its course, giving way to a feeling of powerlessness, even though the forests continue to burn.
