The works of VIVARIUM, spanning a period of 20 years, establish a dialogue between photography and the artistic prac- tice of Claudia Jaguaribe, exploring the evolution of our relationship with nature in an era marked by anthropocentrism. Over two decades, profound transformations have altered our interaction with the environment and the very essence of photography. Landscape photography has evolved in parallel with our ecosystem, while the idea of the distant landscape has given way to a hybrid, fragmented nature integrated into our daily lives. VIVARIUM traces the stages of the artist’s exploration of the representation of nature in a changing cultural context. The images of giant ferns, representing plants that are 330 million years old, evoke a past that is still alive. The sculptures, on the other hand, incorporate fragments
of fossilized plants within metal structures. Beyond mere documentation, Claudia Jaguaribe’s photographs express the urgency of preserving a fragile environment. From photography, as an archive of time, emerges a vision of an uncertain future, shaped by the remnants of the past and the influences of artificial intelligence.
