About Mattia Sugamiele
Born in 1984 in Erice, Italy. Lives and works in Milan, Italy. After graduating in production and audio-video at the IED in Milan, Mattia Sugamiele developed a special interest for painting and enrolled in Milan’s Académie Brera, where he obtained a Visual Arts degree in 2016. He has taken part in group exhibitions at the first Trapani Biennale (Trapani, 2013), Villa Gori (Lucca, 2013), Museo Magi (Pieve di Cento, 2014), Ex Studio di Piero Manzoni (Milan, 2014), and Rivoli 2 (Milan, 2016). Parallel to his work with images, Mattia Sugamiele also incorporates music into his video production for projects at the Meet Factory (Prague, 2014), the Fotografia Europea (Reggio Emilia, 2014), and Café Central (Brussels, 2015). Since 2017, he has devoted his time entirely to research, including photography, video, and painting. He has taken part in the International Photography Festival (Tel Aviv, 2017), Manifesta 12 (Palermo, 2018), Studi Festival (Milan, 2018 and 2019), and was included in the Kaleidoscope collective at Art Warehouses (Trapani, 2019).
